If you have spotted people sitting on park benches with bongs and hookah pipes, you may have been caught a little off-guard. Trying not to stare, you probably wanted to know how people could sit in public with these items and not be arrested. The truth is, since vaping became a thing, these smoking devices have received a facelift or, if you will, an upgrade in status. There are even portable bong-hookah hybrid pipes made with vaping in mind. Here is more on these upgraded smoking devices, and why they are acceptable in public.
Retrofitted vs. Outfitted
Standard bongs and hookah pipes can be retrofitted with the necessary equipment and parts to turn these otherwise infamous smoking devices into perfectly legal vaping devices. All anyone needs is a top stopper component that holds the vape cartridge and the filter cap for the bong, and a conversion disk and stopper/cartridge holder for the hookah.
As for these smoking devices, and the hybrid bong/hookah device being outfitted from the start, there are manufacturers who are doing this more regularly now. You may even buy these devices as part of vape starter kits, which millennials and hipsters are doing. It is a regular and integrated part of these subcultures now.
The Hybrid "Pipe"
A hybrid hookah/bong has the mouthpiece of a hookah but the shape and look of a mini bong. It may look rather strange when you first see one. However, many a police officer has been trained to recognize this as a vaping device. That is why a lot of vapers choose to buy this if they want to vape in public places without worrying about the police. It is small, and much easier to carry around in your pocket than a vaping bong or a vaping hookah pipe, too.
It Is Not Drug Paraphernalia If Used Legally
The biggest part of the vaping facelift and movement with these smoking devices is that police cannot stop or arrest you when you are seen using the vaping versions of these devices. Vaping is not illegal, so the devices used to "smoke" vape juice or vape cartridges are not illegal either. Hence, many vapers have decided that they wanted vape starter kits that include these perfectly legal versions of often illegal smoking devices. This is why you may also see many more people smoking from vape versions of the devices in the coming months.
